For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.Guitar is routed for trem movement in both directions and has a locking nut.No specific problems with the Floyd other than the added difficulty changing strings, setting intonation and the like.If the replacement doesnt cover the rout under the backside, I have a luthier that will make me a little cosmetic wood block I can stick in temporarily.
So: Is there a drop in that allows me to use a standard ball end string and set intonation and individual string action by more conventional means Remembering I am just trying to get around the complexity of the Floyd. ![]() In case I wasnt smart enough on my search and maybe someone else has solved this problem. A trem option is OK but I wouldnt mind a drop in hardtail solution either. There are more and more tools coming out these days that make setting up and intonating a Floyd way easier. ![]() I also saw another tool the other day that replaces the saddle lock screw that allows you to intonate each string without having to loosen the string and fine tune the small saddle bolt. I once had an EBMM Axis with a Floyd and wanted to change it to a non-locking system. The exit points on the Gotoh are about 12 mm in back of the posts. I guess I never really saw a big improvement with this approach. If no good option shows up, I will check on the tool updates. Any pulling up on the arm would pull the string off the ball ends thus out of tune. Ill learn to live with the Gotoh and get better tools I guess. Or just sit down for 30 minutes and tune that Floyd, and you dont have to tune for months.
